Springtime is the Best Time

It's SPRING! Springtime is most certainly my favorite time of the year. After months of cold weather, cloudy days after cloudy days, and the sulky appearance that every tree is dead, spring arrives and brings new life with it. You've probably heard before how spring is a time for rebirth, renewal, and new beginnings. Well, I highly believe in that. It's amazing just how much a season can affect a person's mood. Winter can be a great time of year, after all, it's full of wonderful holidays and cozy traditions.
But after those festive days pass we are left in a state of "Now what?" Now we have to sit around and wait, well might as well make plans for the summer. Sometimes spring just seems to pass by us and before you know it it's summer and we're off to some exciting vacation destination. We always appreciate the warm weather when it arrives, but sometimes we're too busy to slow down and enjoy it. I mean who can I blame, spring can be one of the busiest seasons with sports games, house cleaning, weddings, birthday parties, graduations, club meetings, garage sales, and well you get the picture. Everything we couldn't do in the winter, we have to get done in spring and before you know it it's June.
So where am I going with this? Simple, slow down and smell the roses, and I mean literally smell the roses. Everything is blooming, the birds are singing and if you just take a moment to walk outside and listen, you will find new life all around you. Compared to all the other seasons, to me, spring is the one season where we can literally feel transported into what seems like a whole new world. How many movies have you watched where the heroine walks into an open field during sunrise, with the birds chirping their good mornings to one another and the wet grass shimmering from the early morning dew? It seems like that enchanting field is a completely different world that we wish we could experience.
But the truth is those places are all around us, we just need to open our eyes a little wider and look for them. It can be your own backyard, a hiking trail near your home, or maybe the local park. When spring rolls around I feel just like that heroin and I don't need a camera crew. spring is a short season, especially in Texas, which is why we can't let such an amazing time out of the year just glide past us. My favorite thing to do is to take a nice long walk in the evenings when the temperature starts to cool and the lighting hits everything around me and turns it into something out of a fairytale. It's very therapeutic and there is this calming silence all around, a silence that just brings peace.
If you are feeling stressed as the warm months begin to pass by, don't worry, you are not alone. With new beginnings come new adventures, as well as new challenges, many of which will make us feel rushed and stressed. But even though this short season comes at a bit of a rush, don't forget to take a few moments to slow down and enjoy all of the new life around you. Go on a walk and watch the sunset, put your gardening gloves on and grow something beautiful, take the family out for a picnic, and create some lasting memories. The possibilities are endless, just remember to stop and smell the roses.
