Rum Butter

This sauce is one that will pair with countless desserts. Perfect to top a fruitcake or pudding, but will add an extra kick to gingerbread, earl gray loaf, or a simple pound cake. If you want it to have a stronger rum flavor, just add it after the sauce has been cooked or cook the sauce until the alcohol has been cooked. Either way, this will be a rich and sweet addition to your holiday menu.

Ingredients

1 stick of butter

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup milk

¼ cup Rum

Instructions

In a saucepan melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the sugar and milk. Stir until all ingredients are combined and the sauce is smooth. Remove from the stove.

Add the rum to the sauce and stir. Pour into a glass jar and refrigerate when not serving. You can warm up the sauce in the microwave if it's hardened before serving.
