Life Around Me

Updated: Mar 19, 2021

The past several months have been extremely busy. They have flown by way too fast and I finally find myself with some time to sit down and write. I had a resolution of dedicating more time to my blog, but life took over and sure enough, I did not accomplish that goal. What I have learned in the past couple of months is sometimes even when we don’t have time, we have to make time.

Life gets busy as we grow up and the one thing we tend to do is forget that we need to enjoy the moments we have in front of us. As Spring finally sets in within the Lone Star state, I find myself trying to take just a few moments every day, whether it be 5 or 30 minutes, to forget all the things from my busy day and simply relax and enjoy what’s in front of me. I love taking walks in the evening to help clear my head and detox from all the stresses I’ve carried with me throughout the day. It’s very therapeutic and has allowed me to take a few moments of each day and enjoy the beauty that is around me. To remember that even in my busy life, it’s important to take some time off and just breathe.

As I took my afternoon stroll one of these past evenings, I really got to enjoy some of that wonderful Texas Spring that is currently blooming all around us. As I walked across the fields the wildflowers swayed back and forth with the soft evening breeze as if they were dancing to a spring tune. The dogs, which never miss a walk mind you, kept chasing one another and rolling around in the grass as if it was their first time experiencing the season. They do this every time we go on a walk and it wasn’t until recently that I realized how much they enjoyed the simple thing they do so regularly as if it was their first time. Their puppy-like attitude to the blooming environment made me remember that we need to experience every day like it’s a completely new experience like it’s something we’ve never tasted before.

Life moves too quickly and is too short for us to forget about enjoying what we have right in front of us. We easily get caught up in the whirlwind of our busy every day and forget that some of the greatest things in life are the people and things that surround us and are right there all along. While it may seem impossible sometimes to schedule those simple moments in life, we just have to take the time and the effort to include them in our lives. Because it’s those simple moments that make a difference, those 5 or 30 minutes of quiet time that will help you make it through the day. It’s enjoying the simple gifts God has given us that is truly fulfilling and will enrich your life in a simple and wonderful way.
