Earl Gray Loaf

Looking for an easy addition to your breakfast menu? Or perhaps you’d like a tasty treat for a special feast day. This Earl Gray Loaf is one that will check off everything on your list. Moist and with a hint of tea flavor, this rustic loaf will become a family favorite. Much like my Earl Gray muffins, this recipe is slightly tweaked but still has the same great taste.

Ingredients

1 cup of milk

3 tbsp Earl Grey, loose leaf

1 cup granulated sugar

¼ cup butter, room temp

1 large egg

¼ cup vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 ¼ cups of flour

1 ½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

Instructions

Warm the milk to a low boil on the stove or in a microwave. Place the tea in the warm milk and set it aside to cool.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla. Slowly mix until well incorporated. Gradually add in the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Stir in the cooled tea milk, with the loose tea leaves as well. Pour cake batter into a loaf pan.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the loaf to cool completely before removing it from the baking tin.
