4th of July Tablescape

The 4th of July is a day that is filled with patriotic enthusiasm and celebratory activities. It's a day where we truly go out with a bang. From the hot dogs and pool parties to the parades and fireworks, celebrating the birth of America is one that each citizen can proudly enjoy. And like all celebrations, decorating is one of the many ways we can show our spirit for the holiday and on this 4th of July I embraced the old America and combined it with a little bit of the new.

A tablescape can be a great and simple way to decorate for any holiday, afterall, every holiday is celebrated with some sort of meal. What better way to decorate than to make your feast table the centerpiece. Focusing on the table as your main focal point for any decor not only makes the room warm and inviting but it's also where you will gather with family and friends to celebrate important moments and holidays like birthdays and Christmas. The table in a home has a special meaning and significance as it's a place where we can gather not just to break bread but to create lasting memories. So if you're looking for ways to embrace your inner red, white, and blue here are two centerpiece combinations I used for our 4th of July celebrations, along with our table all dressed for a sit-down bbq dinner. This arrangement was simple and required taking things I already had at home.

I love the colonial style, but I also like some of the cleaner contemporary elements we have today. I wanted the centerpiece to pay tribute to the early years of our country and specifically the war with which we gained our independence. So adding a history book on the Revolutionary War and an old ship that looks pretty similar to the USS Consitution was the perfect way to incorporate a touch of history. Taking a sea glass vase with some greenery to keep the florals simple and adding some flags was the perfect marriage between patriotism and elegance. The sea glass added that nautical vibe to the scape along with the battleship and telescope. To tie the nautical components altogether, some rope placemats made for the perfect table setting.

I used some red and white striped linen napkins at each place setting and it was the perfect way to add some more of that American spirit. When it came to the dinnerware, we wanted to enjoy a sit-down family meal, so the fine china was busted out and was a great way to elevate the entire setup. This tablescape can be simplified if you're wanting something more casual. Or if your table is too small, leave the centerpiece and arrange your buffet around your showstopper. The great thing about this is that you can be creative with the pieces you already have in your home. Just have fun and try to see what everyday items you can use to create a showstopping arrangement for your 4th of July celebration.

I used most of the same items to create a second arrangement that was less nautical and could be easier to move around. Using a straw or wooden tray and building your arrangement in it can be another great alternative to a traditional table centerpiece. While still combing some historical pieces with more modern elements, this arrangement is perfect to use as a centerpiece for an outdoor picnic. This setup took just five minutes to do and was super easy to take outside and use on the picnic table. The most important part is to be creative and have fun. Just be sure to let your style shine when preparing your table for your next holiday feast.
